Every method has benefits and things to consider. Our pharmacist will help you compare them in private and find one that fits your health and your plans.
Short-acting
Combined pill
A daily pill containing two hormones. Very effective when taken every day, and it can help make periods lighter and more regular.
Short-acting
Progestogen-only pill
A daily pill with one hormone. Often suitable for breastfeeding mothers and women who cannot take oestrogen.
Short-acting
Injectable
An injection every two or three months, depending on the type. A good choice if you would rather not take a daily pill.
Long-acting
Implant
A small, flexible rod placed under the skin of the upper arm by a trained provider. Protects for three to five years, depending on the type.
Long-acting
IUD / IUS (coil)
A small device fitted in the womb by a trained provider. The copper IUD is hormone-free; both types last for several years.

Condoms
Male and female condoms are the only methods that also protect against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
After sex
Emergency contraception
Used after unprotected sex or if a method fails. The sooner it is taken the better — ideally within 72 hours; some types work for up to 5 days.

Which method is best for me?
It depends on your health, your age, whether you are breastfeeding, how often you want to think about contraception and whether you plan to have children in future. A short private chat with our pharmacist is the best way to decide.
Is my consultation confidential?
Yes. We talk in private and never share your details without your consent. You are welcome to come alone or with your partner.
Do I need a prescription?
Some products, such as condoms and emergency contraception, can usually be bought over the counter. Others need a prescription or a consultation with a trained provider. Our pharmacist will explain what applies to you.
I missed a pill — what should I do?
Check the leaflet that came with your pill and speak to our pharmacist as soon as you can. Depending on the pill and how many you missed, you may need extra protection or emergency contraception.
Can I order family planning products online?
Yes. Over-the-counter products are available in our online shop and are packed discreetly. For prescription methods, upload your prescription and we will contact you.
